SW*AID - Learning Events
SW*AID events and our pick of IWD events in Bristol
Firstly, thank you to everyone who is part of this community. It’s fantastic to see people collaborating on projects and attending events together.
A second thank you to everyone who joined us for intention setting in January and book club in February. We really enjoyed hearing about your plans for the year and diving into Data Feminism.
Now - this is quite long - but we are super excited and wanted to share our plans for the year (and some International Women’s Day events).

Upcoming SW*AID Events
We’ve been listening and one thing that is clear - everyone wants to learn more about AI. So we are putting on some events to help this happen.
BYOL (Bring Your Own Learning) - 25th March 8.45am
Instead of our usual small group discussions, our next coffee morning will be an opportunity to learn about AI. You pick what you learn, you have other wonderful women around to inspire you and you have an hour to really get stuck in.
Tuesday 25th March 2025 - 8.45am - 10.30am
Engine Shed, Station Approach, Bristol

Book Club #Chapter2
This will be the last week in April - if you are interested please join the Book Club channel on WhatsApp as we will hold a poll to decide the day nearer the time. We’ll be discussing chapter 2 of Data Feminism.
As always, no worries if you haven’t read the chapter - you can always join in, or maybe even ask ChatGPT for a summary

Wednesday 21st May 12noon - 2pm

Rest of the Year
Book Club - every other month (June, Sept, Nov).
BYOL - if this is successful we look at organising these more often throughout the year.
Female AI Founders Showcase - as part of Bristol Technology Festival in October, we’d really love to run an event showcasing some of the amazing female founder in our community. As a first step - we’d love to chat to all the founders to work out how this type of event could benefit you. If you are a female founder (ideally with a demo-able AI product or service), please reach out to Laura, Hannah or Freya for a chat.
Christmas social - Dec (if anyone knows a business who might host or want to sponsor some food and drinks, we’d be very grateful).
International Women’s Day - 8th March 2025 - Events
We are not officially running any events, but wanted to share some awesome things happening around Bristol:
5th March (when all the Bristol events seem to be happening)
Future Space - 9-10.30am
This training is run by the Jean Golding Institute at University of Bristol, delivered by Laura Gemmell!
Two of our Lauras will be at this event - we’re very excited to hear Laura Tan talk about her business Avid Health.
8th March
Women in Business Charter invites you to Bristol City Hall to discuss this important topic.
Freya is getting married!!!
We’re sure everyone in the community joins us in wishing her the best day!
Stay Connected
Whatsapp community - this is our main location and a great place to chat to the rest of SW*AID
LinkedIn page - we will also share events and news on our LinkedIn page [note: the LinkedIn group is no longer active, and we will be deleting this - so place follow the LinkedIn page or join the Whatsapp]
As always - any ideas, news to share or support needed, let us know! Hopefully see you soon,
Laura, Hannah, Freya
